Privacy

We keep this simple: Pirate Face collects as little as possible, and we don't sell your data.

What we store in your browser

• A single preference for your light/dark theme (pf-theme), kept in your browser's local storage. It never leaves your device.

What we collect

• Basic, privacy-respecting analytics - aggregate page views and performance. We do not build advertising profiles.
• Server logs - standard request logs (IP, user agent, timestamp) retained briefly for security and abuse prevention.
• Handle claims - when you verify a handle through an external identity provider (such as Hugging Face or X), we receive your public profile (username and, where applicable, a verification token) to prove ownership. We store the handle and its verified status.
• Product update subscriptions - if you choose Notify me, we store the email address you enter, the updates you selected, where and when you subscribed, and whether you later unsubscribed. An email received incidentally from an identity provider is not treated as marketing consent.

Model data

Model metadata (sizes, checksums, downloads, licenses, READMEs) is fetched from the Hugging Face Hub and saved in a persistent catalog, so records may remain after the source becomes unavailable. Browsing models does not require an account and is not tied to your identity.

Third parties

We rely on infrastructure providers (hosting, database, analytics, any identity provider you choose to verify with). They process data only to provide their service. Torrent traffic is peer-to-peer; your torrent client connects directly to peers, and your IP may be visible to them, as with any BitTorrent transfer.

Community torrent submissions

Submitting a surviving copy requires sign-in. Pirate Face stores your account ID, torrent infohash, revision, submitted file checksums, license and source evidence, and moderation history. Account linkage and private review notes are not shown with public torrent listings. Reviewed torrent links and sanitized test reports may be published. Do not include secrets or personal data in evidence. BitTorrent peers may see your IP address independently of Pirate Face.

Before product update emails are sent, any email delivery provider will be added to this notice and reviewed as a data processor.

Your choices

You can clear the theme preference by clearing your browser storage. You can unsubscribe from product updates in Account, and every update email will include an unsubscribe option. To remove a verified handle or ask what we hold, message @ThePirateFace on X.

Language

This policy may be offered in more than one language. If a translation differs from the English version, the English version controls.

Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be noted here with a new “last updated” date.
